Nordic Sugar produce approx. 200 different sugar products which are used in a large variety of products ranging from food to pharma products. Our aim is to provide added value through service, logistics, technical support and assistance in product development.

Nordic Sugar's strategic focus on product development has resulted in a considerable number of product launches in the past few years. We develop products to meet customer's specific needs which leads to benefits such as simplified production processes and a strong contribution to the quality and success of our customers final products.

We boast market leadership in the Nordic and Baltic countries and target growth in new markets. More than 80% of our output is sold to the food industry, mainly to manufactures of soft drinks, confectionary, jam, marmalade, bakery and dairy products, while the remaining part is sold in the retail market under our Dansukker brand.

We also supply a line of animal feed products and sugar beet seed to agriculture, as well as dietary fibre.

Production

Our annual output of around 1 million tonnes of sugar is produced at seven plants in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Lithuania. Our raw materials are sugar beets, supplied by beet growers in our production countries, and raw cane sugar imported from e.g. the EBA-countries. Moreover Maribo Seeds breed, produce and market seed for sugar beet and fodder beet, peas and sunflowers.

Employees

We have approx. 1,650 employees working in job functions ranging from production and advising beet farmers via sales and marketing to high-tech it, machine operators, process operators, service engineers, process development and R&D.

In March 2009 Nordic Sugar became a member of the Nordzucker Group the second largest sugar producer in Europe now operating a Europe-wide sales organisation.
